A solemn parade of schools marked the beginning of the celebrations on the occasion of May 24 - Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, writing and culture, of Slavic literature and the holiday of Blagoevgrad.

Students, together with their teachers, paraded through Georgi Izmirliev Square, and during the procession the achievements of each of the educational institutions were presented. Before passing through the square, they formed two beams, one of which started from the Courthouse in Blagoevgrad, led by the Children's and Youth Brass Band of the Central Youth and Youth Orchestra, and the other from the National Humanitarian High School "St. St. Cyril and Methodius", led by the musicians from the Big Band - Blagoevgrad.

The program continued with a large-scale concert with a rich and diverse repertoire, in which local artists and Blagoevgrad hopefuls took part. Before it, the residents and guests of the city were greeted by the mayor Ilko Stoyanov, who emphasized the importance of the work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, their students and continuers of the mission.

„"Today is the most beautiful Bulgarian holiday. Today is a day in which we feel special pride, because with education, culture and spirituality, Bulgarians reach unique heights. And today Bulgaria is not on three seas, today Bulgaria is on seven continents. We have something to be proud of. A bow to the educators who wrote their names in the history of our Motherland, a bow to all who continue their mission today," said Mayor Stoyanov in part of his greeting.

The festive concert was also attended by graduates of the Croiset Ballet School at the Central Youth and Sports Center, as well as students from the Municipal Youth Parliament. They had the opportunity to stand on the big stage next to the Mayor of Blagoevgrad as a sign of support for the young people in our Municipality.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Municipal Council Radoslav Taskov, David Arabadzhiev, Secretary of the Municipality of Blagoevgrad, Silvia Domozetska, Director of the Directorate "Culture, Sports and Tourism" of the Municipality of Blagoevgrad, Simona Mitova, Director of "Education, cultural and educational figures, public figures and citizens.".
