A concert entitled "Sun, Air and Land for All" was held at the "Narodni Buditeli" square in Blagoevgrad, marking St. George's Day, days after the holiday. The forum, dedicated to the culture and traditions of the Roma, was attended by graduates from the Center for Personal and Creative Development of Children in Blagoevgrad, from the Center for Family-Type Accommodation for Children without Disabilities, and students from the Sofia University "St. Paisii Hilendarski", Mikrevo village.
The event was opened by Emilia Halilova, director of Directorate "Social and Housing Policy". Among those present at the event were Silvia Domozetska, Director of the Directorate "Culture, Sports and Tourism" at the Municipality of Blagoevgrad, Bogdana Kostadinova, Director of the Center for Cultural, Sports and Tourism Development, Ivan Ivanov, Manager of the Public Enterprise "Art Stage and Fest".
The celebration began with the song "Ederlezi" performed by Lyubima Kalpacka and continued with a colorful extravaganza of songs and dances.
On stage, the children from the village of Mikrevo presented rituals related to the celebrations of one of the biggest holidays for the Erdelez Roma.
The celebration ended with a performance by Maria Nikova, a student at the III Primary School "Dimitar Talev" - Blagoevgrad, a graduate of the "Pirinska Kitka" Youth and Sports Academy at the Central Regional and Regional Development Center. At the invitation of the European Commissioner Mariya Gabriel, Maria Nikova will represent the children of Blagoevgrad and Bulgaria in Brussels.
The rich program, filled with excitement, was taken care of by the teachers, who, with a lot of hard work and dedication, educate the children in tolerance and respect for each other.
