Today we celebrate Ilinden - the biggest summer holiday. On this occasion, within 3 days, a multimedia presentation was presented to the children of the Summer Academy, organized by the Municipality of Blagoevgrad and the Center for Personal and Creative Development of Children of Blagoevgrad. A lecturer from the Orthodox Information Center of the Holy Metropolis of Nevrokop - Blagoevgrad, introduced the participants in the summer interest activities to the holiday. In the Bulgarian folk calendar, Ilinden is the biggest summer holiday during harvest and threshing. On this day, adults tell tales and sing songs about the holy prophet Elijah, who rides a fiery chariot with six horses across the sky and asks God for their health and well-being, good weather and fertility.
