“Democracy is not a given. It is an activity, an engagement, even an adventure – it requires courage, team spirit and constant care.
Democracy is most easily destroyed not by authoritarian regimes, but by indifference. That is why we must participate, speak up – responsibly and with respect for others. This is the only way to preserve it.
Democracy, like a ship we are all on, carries us forward – towards a society where we have a voice, rights and a future. That is why in the EU we work to ensure that citizens' voices are heard. That those who shout the loudest, pay the most or spread hatred do not prevail.
Every vote matters. Every choice shapes the future. Be interested, be critical, have an opinion, speak up. Because the future and democracy depend on you.”
With these words, the Head of the EC Representation in Bulgaria addressed young people within the framework of the "Adventures of Democracy" forum in Blagoevgrad, organized by Europe Direct – Blagoevgrad and Youth Center – Blagoevgrad.
Ms. Chobanova also visited Center for Personal and Creative Development of Children of Blagoevgrad, which is an example of an atmosphere of creativity and encouragement of curiosity, care for nature and preservation of traditions.
