The national holiday "For our bread..." began in Blagoevgrad, Mayor Ilko Stoyanov presented awards to some of the winners
Blagoevgrad became the host of the National Student Holiday "For Our Bread..." for another year. Traditionally, the festival began with a short musical program and the blessing of the bread by priests from the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary.
Over 1,000 students from 14 regions of Bulgaria participated in "For Our Bread..." this year. The 24th edition of the competition was officially opened by the Mayor of Blagoevgrad Ilko Stoyanov, who welcomed the participants and guests.
„"I am glad that Blagoevgrad is hosting this event. I thank the teachers and participants who joined with desire and enthusiasm in the wonderful holiday "For Our Bread...", because Bulgarian traditions and customs have preserved us as a people. I wish you to continue to create and realize your dreams," said Ilko Stoyanov and presented awards to the winners in the "Scientific Research" category.
Among the official guests at the People's Awakeners Square were also David Arabadzhiev, Secretary of the Municipality of Blagoevgrad, Silvia Domozetska, Director of the Directorate of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Bogdana Kostadinova, Director of the Center for Personal and Creative Development of Children of Blagoevgrad. They also awarded outstanding participants in various categories.
The competition lasted two days. The first day started with the defense of scientific developments, where this year the competition was fierce. For the second day of the program, the organizers had prepared a rich program, which began with the presentation of rituals, songs and dances related to bread and ended with the awarding of the winners in the other sections.
XXIV National Student Holiday "For Our Bread..." is organized with the assistance of the Municipality of Blagoevgrad, the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Children's Palace, the Educational and Cultural Development Center-Blagoevgrad and the Center for Personal and Creative Development of Children of Blagoevgrad.
