Today, in the Varosha district, the children from the Decorative Applied Arts School, led by Gergana Mihova, and the Biseri Primary School, led by Daniela Bogdanova, met and learned about the symbolism of the martenitsa from ancient times to the present day. Why do we wear it, why is it important to use kind words while making it? The open lesson between the children was filled with many positive emotions. How did the martenitsa come about, why are the colors white and red, what do they symbolize, when do we wear the martenitsa and when do we take them off? Mrs. Gergana Mihova showed them how to twist the red and white thread. Other colors can be added to them, which also have different symbolism. The martenitsa are made from natural materials.
